Apple Crisp

This is the best apple crisp recipe I have ever tasted.  Family and friends always ask for it.   It is great on Sunday evenings warm from the oven served with vanilla ice cream.

APPLE CRISP

Fill a 9 x 13 baking pan with sliced apples. (mix apples, 1/2 Johnagolds and 1/2Braeburns etc.)

Combine and mix with apples:

  • 2/3 cup sugar
  • 2t. cinnamon
  • 1t. lemon juice
  • dash of nutmeg

In a separate bowl mix together:

  • 3/4 C flour
  • 1/2 C oatmeal
  • 1/2 C brown sugar
  • 1 stick butter, melted

Combine above ingredients, crumble on top of apples.  Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes or until the apples are soft and bubbly.

Hint:  I wash the apples really well, and leave the skins on, it lends a nice color and interest to the crisp, and doubling the amount of crisp on top makes this dessert especially good!
