My Grandmother always made special treats for the grandchildren when we would come to visit. I remember many of her special treats. One treat that really stands out is her oatmeal cookie recipe. This recipe is a real keeper, these cookies are chewy and moist. Be sure not to over bake them.
Grandma’s Oatmeal Cookies
Combine eggs, raisins and vanilla. Let stand. Cream shortening and sugars together. Sift dry ingredients into sugar mixture. Blend in with egg mixture, oats, raisins, and nuts. (nuts are optional) Dough will be stiff. Roll into balls and flatten with a fork on an ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 350 degrees for 10 – 12 minutes. DO NOT OVERBAKE!
Note: You can add chocolate or butterscotch chips in with the raisins if you wish.
You will never be able to keep the cookie jar full with these cookies!!!
I made these cookies the other day and they were devoured!!! A great recipe, thanks for sharing.
