Stephenie Meyer’s ability to captivate an audience and encourage speedy reading shines through in her first adult novel, The Host. While still aimed at a teenage or young adult audience, The Host is an entertaining novel for anyone who enjoyed the Twilight Series. At her first attempt away from the vampire love series, Stephenie Meyers has succeeded in creating a new plot line that is equally, if not more so, thrilling and exciting.
The Host , while relatively long, is not a difficult or challenging read. Much like Meyer’s other novels, the exciting parts of the novel begin towards the second half of the novel. But don’t let this put you off, this novel is worth reading.
The novel examines the very substance that makes us human, and what the human mind is capable of. The whole story is very interesting, and often thought provoking. As the novel examines multiple relationships between the different characters, Meyers unique writing qualities shine through.
I must again acknowledge Stephenie Meyer’s writing abilities. While she has not written a universal classic, she has excellently written an exciting and page-turning novel. The characters, especially those of Melanie, Wanderer, Jared, and Jamie, and there unique relationships are one of the most interesting aspects of the novel. On a personal level, I enjoyed reading this novel more than those of the Twilight series. It has been one of my favorite novels this year, and I would encourage anyone who is in need of an interesting novel, to read this. It’s excellent.
I truly enjoy these book reviews!! Thanks
