Knitting is a form of survival at times. Not for the clothing I make, but for the time it takes up. Sitting at appointments or waiting for kids at lessons it helps me to feel like I am not wasting my time.
I came across a beautiful self-striping yarn at a new shop in town last week.
My kids seem to be into scarfs right now and I needed mindless knitting. So for a very easy, but cute scarf: Use size (US) 8 needles and Patons Classic Wool self striping yarn. Cast on 40 stitches. Knit 2 purl 2 rib stitch to end, Row 2, same, continue this way until the scarf is the length you prefer. Cast off in pattern, tie fringe if you like !
The yarn will stripe in interesting patterns, the patterns will change at times. Fun and mindless, plus my kids are already fighting over who gets to wear the scarf first!
